To Garrett County area farmers, artisans, and other local food outlets:
Garrett County Economic Development recently received a grant to publish a comprehensive local food guide for Garrett County. Hana Crouch of Savage River Farm will be working closely with Cheryl DeBerry (GCED) and Willie Lantz (County Extension) on the project. This guide will provide information for local businesses and individuals who want to know where and how they can purchase your locally grown products. It will hopefully be ready to be published by July 2013.
If you would like to be included in the local food guide, please submit a short description of your farm or food business, along with pictures you would like to see published in the guide, with captions. Our hope is to include at least a thumbnail picture or logo to go along with each farm’s description. In addition, your description will be published on the GarrettFarms.org website so that people will be able to find you online.
Descriptions should be less than 250 words. Please make sure to include the following information:
- A short description of what your farm or food business has to offer.
- How customers can buy your products: CSA, U-Pick, farm stand, Farmer’s Markets, through
Garrett Growers Cooperative or an online farmer’s market, etc.
- Which Farmer’s Markets you go to, if any.
- Approximately where your farm/business is located.
- Contact info (email, website, phone number, etc.)
- Pictures or logos.
Please also include your address separate from your description so it may be included in a map to be published in the guide. This way, people can locate the farms closest to them.
Submissions are due by June 1, 2013, so please get your description in before the busy growing season begins.
In addition to the description of your farm or food business, which is free, we also have advertising space available for purchase. If you would like to buy a 1/4, 1/2, or full page ad to be published in this food guide, please contact us soon.
Email submissions and inquiries to email@example.com.
If you or a farm or food business you know of does not use email, please pass along this information. Submissions sent by US Mail will also be accepted up to the deadline. Send to:
